Generally, I am interested in taxonomy, ecology, distribution and larval morphology of the beetle families Silphidae, Agyrtidae and Leiodidae (subfamilies Cholevinae, Coloninae and Platypsyllinae), mostly within the Palaearctic and Oriental Regions.
Currently, I am working on the following projects:
Taxonomical revision and distribution of Catops, Catopodes, Mesocatops, Prionochaeta, Protocatops, Sciodrepoides and related genera (Leiodidae: Cholevinae: mostly Catopina) from China, Nepal and adjacent territories; in cooperation with Michel Perreau (Paris, France), Masaaki Nishikawa (Ebina, Japan) and Cheng-Bin Wang (Praha, Czech Republic).
Taxonomical revision and distribution of Oriental Silphinae, covering the genera/subgenera Diamesus and Eusilpha, including larval morphology; in cooperation with Derek S. Sikes (Fairbanks, USA), Masaaki Nishikawa (Ebina, Japan), Jan Schneider and Jarin Qubaiová (both Praha, Czech Republic).
Detailed distribution of Silphidae, Agyrtidae and Leiodidae: Cholevinae throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia; in cooperation with Pavel Jakubec and Jan Schneider (both Praha, Czech Republic) and Jiří Vávra (Ostrava, Czech Republic).
Distribution of Silphidae (both Nicrophorinae and Silphinae) throughout China; in cooperation with Jan Schneider (Praha, Czech Republic) and Masaaki Nishikawa (Ebina, Japan).
Ecology and distributional pattern of necrophagous beetles (Coleoptera) in rock debris and caves in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; in cooperation with Tomáš Jászay (Bardejov, Slovakia), Ľubomír Kováč (Košice, Slovakia), Roman Mlejnek (Blansko, Czech Republic) and Andrej Mock (Košice, Slovakia).
